This study aims to investigate the correlation between translation, censorship and patronage and the ideology reflected in the act of translation. Ideological manipulation was found to be a means by which agents may deviate the ideological orientation of the target text, which may prevent the aims of translation and the source text from being identical.

The Sufi symbols constitute a translational problem due to its ambiguity and the wide interval between the time of composition and the time of translation. This article aims to study the translation of the Sufi symbols of Muhy al-Din Ibn Arabi based on interpretation, including the hermeneutic circle, represented in understanding the whole from the part and understanding the part from the whole.

Our research consists of analyzing the strategies used by the translator Yasser ABDELLATIf to translate Perrault’s folk tale La belle au bois dormant from French to Arabic .It sheds light on the most important techniques and strategies used to make a proper translation for the cultural items. Our study was based on the analytical and critical method; this is why we tried to analyze the strategies used to render the cultural concepts and expressions selected from our corpus, relying on the interpretative theory of translation.

The very first thing that pops into our minds before such an expression: E-Learning is all sorts of Internet applications and how teachers and students engage in e-classrooms explaining and interacting, interchangeably. This topic has invited many researchers to conduct studies treating didactics, in general, and translation teaching, in particular. These studies unveiled the pros and cons of teaching translation online, today. Translation students are of great concern to our study. One wonders whether these students are ready to ace the job market having earned their degree at the end of this online training.

By subtitling movies, the translator puts the viewer in front of the real image to be conveyed without lessening or adding anything to the original version product. However, linguistic and cultural elements, sometimes, hinder the correct transmission of meaning.

This article deals with language as the only available tool for translators in their jobs. Accordingly, translators have a wide range of different expressions to translate texts. In literary translation, translators have a certain freedom when it comes to choosing from expressions what could reflect best the glamour of the source text. In specialized translation, however, they may not enjoy the same amount of freedom because specialized language is a language of science, characterized by precision and preestablished expressions and terms. Through the analysis of a press article translated from English into Arabic, we attempted to deduce if the translator has only laid terms and pre-established expressions side by side, or he has relied on literary language to produce a text equal text to the source. We have concluded through this research that the specialized translator, on occasions, relies on some literary features to achieve readability to the target reader.

Translation, nowadays, is not regarded as a mere transfer of knowledge. In fact, it is a very complex process. Recent studies no longer focus on translation methods and strategies, the effect of translation as a product on the receiver and studying the source text intellectual and aesthetic specificities. Rather, their focus is on the translator and the mental processes of translation. Hence, the research question: how does a translator activate his memory and employ it in his task despite its inherent processes that will be apparent in the translation stages they will go through: understanding, analyzing and transferring.

Verbal Similarity is one of the topics that received attention and study in the sciences of the Noble Qur’an, aiming to clarify the rhetorical secrets behind it. Its translation is one of the problems that require care while criticizing the translations of the meanings of the Noble Qur’an. This research deals with the similarity in the structure of the words in the Qur’anic expression. The research focuses on the different structure of the word from the same source, as this constitutes a verbal similarity that has a rhetorical effect in the differentiation between the two structures and, thus, has an impact on translation as well: its absence in translation will have a semantic and rhetorical loss. This study aims to enrich this field to increase scientific accuracy while translating the meanings of the Noble Qur’an into other languages, mainly into English.

The study aims to address the issue of examining stylistic translation errors in economic texts by adopting the method of descriptive analytical research. In this study, we will approach an analytical presentation of a number of sentences extracted from economic texts translated and revised by the Algerian Press Agency to identify translation errors related to style, classify them according to the type of error, which are smoothness, Tailoring, Sub-language and Idiom then correct them. The study concluded that the most common stylistic errors are those related to the smoothness parameter ,which is concerned with looking at the extent of the wording, revealing sentences that are difficult to understand and working to adapt them.

The incorporation of local lexica in diction is one of the cornerstone of the African style in prose fiction. It carries specific cultural loads related to African authenticity, yet it requires the alteration of English structure. The present study aims to examine the linguistic strategies used to Africanise English in contemporary neo-slave narrative in a Ghanaian context. It relies on a mixed methods approach that borrows theoretical insights from the dynamic modelling of context and indexicality. The results showed that with recourse to the linguistic strategies of code-switching and transcoding, Yaa Gyasi has squarely mediated the Akan experience to a global English-speaking audience in her debut novel Homegoing (2016). By switching to the Akan code, the narrative preserved the semantic value system of the Akan culture. On the other hand, transcoding Akan lexica into the English language evoked stances of blame, shame, revolt, glory and ethnic reconciliation between the Fante and the Asante.

Most scholars agree that translation is an arduous task in which learners, frequently, face serious difficulties when translating. Translation studies have provided a fresh perspective on translation and translation competence more than a mere linguistic ability that could help students overcome their translation defficulties, as they ignore the relationship between the constituents of the translation competence in terms of subject, text, language, transfer, and culture. Therefore, this research adopts a descriptive approach wherein 25 MA students enrolled at the Translation Department at Annaba University participated. A survey was administered via google form to grant a well-grounded inference. The findings revealed that students encounter obstacles in text, subject, transfer, language, and culture.

The Algerian Revolution represents the kernel of hope for Algerian people and the main inspiration source for its writers. However, some translations of revolution literature involve meaning shift that may result from modulation or substitution for ideological reasons. In this respect, this paper focuses on the difference between modulation and ideological managing in translation using a descriptive methodology in the theoretical part. It, then, sheds the light on the translation procedures used for (Thawra/Thouar) in the bilingual edition of Ghoualmi’s anthology, by analysing these terms and their translation through historical and descriptive approach.

Simultaneous interpreting (SI) in live satellite is a new form of media interpreting. It has been imposed by the requirement of the satellite media’s work. The Interpreter conveys the meaning of the original speech to the target recipient, within contexts that are completely different from conference interpreting ones. In this regard, this paper deals with the problematic of the effect of the satellite broadcasts context on TV interpreting evaluation norms. This type of simultaneous interpreting is considered the most difficult and complex because interpreting quality is affected by external factors, which should be taken into account when transferring the text to the target language. The study’s results showed that TV interpreter must adapt his/her translation to the satellite broadcast’s norms. And such restrictions are not imposed on conference interpreters. So, those norms should be taken in consideration in the evaluation of the TV interpreting, which, in turn, is affected by the context of satellite broadcasts, where the transfer of the form prevails over the content.

The present paper aims at discussing the problem of translating the Meanings of the Quran by orientalists with a special focus on approaches. Though a multitude of Arab scholars studied both purposes and approaches of orientalists when translating the Quran, almost no one of them approached the relationship between these purposes and approaches. Aiming at discovering the effect of translation purposes on translation approaches, we should examine the relationship between them by searching for purposes that motivated the orientalists to translate the Quran, and then we study the approaches they followed to achieve their purposes. So, what were the purposes of orientalists behind translating the Quran? And could the purpose of the translator affect his selection of the approach of translation and therefore the result, i.e., the translated text? Trying to answer these questions, we conducted a study on the translation of Arthur John Arberry, namely The Koran Interpreted.

Translation plays a vital role in creating a prosperous milieu for cultural and linguistic interchange, overcoming linguistic and civilizational barriers that hinder intercultural communication. To be accomplished as a task facilitating inter-communication, translation needs some methods to be examined and adopted. This paper aims at unveiling the different methods of translation Delisle has come up to as a result of his research to facilitate the task of translation. The study investigates and analyzes the importance of translation methods and the best way to explain and use them correctly to translation users through Delisle’s eyes. Results revealed that the methods Delisle illustrated are not unique; they deserve to be a model as they share some common features with other methods, which made them, somehow, global. Thus, Delisle’s methods of translation have been tested for their validity and reliability in some examples in this paper.
